Dr. Royal Copeland, a homeopathic doctor served as Health Commissioner of New York City from 1918 to 1923. He was later voted to the U.S. Senate and in 1938 where he sponsored the Federal Food, Drug and Cosmetic Act that integrated homeopathic medicines into federal law. Aside from herbs and supplements, which are known as food and cannot be promoted for the aversion or treatment of particular sicknesses, homeopathic prescriptions are medications that can be advertised for particular conditions. A homeopathic medication can be sold to the community providing that the affliction for which it is guaranteed to treat has an OTC sign (an illness which is self-limiting) and does not require medical monitoring or a medicinal diagnosis. Due to these features, it is unlawful for homeopathic medicine or any other OTC medication to be promoted for genuine medical conditions, like multiple sclerosis, coronary illness, diabetes, or likewise dangerous conditions. Though these conditions are not se lf-limiting, there are different conditions that are self-limiting that require a diagnosis from a doctor.
